This space was created in honor of Laila Daniels, the vibrant, young high school student whose life was cut short by domestic violence. She was still becoming — but her bruise remained unspoken.
#MyUnspokenBruise is our call to listen, to speak, and to heal. We open this studio so no voice goes unheard and every soul has room to discover its truth before reaching for others. Domestic violence may not be your unspoken bruise, but everyone carries something. In our circle, you may choose to speak it — or simply learn to navigate it with emotional intelligence as you grow into your becoming.

Guided by a Ph.D. in Leadership, Policy, and Change in Education, I quickly learned that no academic title could prepare me for the work that awaited me inside a local high school. There, I met an extraordinary group of students who reintroduced me to myself—deeper, clearer, and more aligned. Through talking, listening, observing, and being trusted with their inner worlds, they became a vital part of my journey, and I am still evolving because of them and the others I’ve since been assigned to for intuitive care.
What I learned in that building challenged my original philosophy of education and reshaped how I understand my role in it. It also prepared me for the next level of work I now lead through my nonprofit. What began as a placement became a sacred assignment, unfolding with clarity and purpose. My journey is finally beginning to make sense.
Meet Dr. Davis, the visionary behind The Believer’s Toolbox.
I met Dr. Davis in a classroom back in 2022. At that time, I was still figuring out who I was. What started as a simple chat between a teacher and a student quickly grew into something more meaningful. She recognized the strength in my poetry, appreciating not only how it sounded but also how powerful it was in sparking conversations that benefited both of us.
Even after I graduated, we continued our conversations. One lunch turned into hours of deep talks and laughter, showing that our connection extended well beyond the classroom. So, when she suggested I co-host this podcast, it felt like the obvious next step. I’m part of a generation that is stepping up with confidence, and I’m excited to take part in this way.
Dr. Davis invited me to share my poetry at Generation Connect in October 2025, a conference organized by The Believer’s Toolbox. There, I expressed the same honesty and insights that shaped our discussions. I’m a writer, a thinker, and someone ready to make an impact. This podcast presents a wonderful opportunity for me to tackle challenging topics, grow, and create alongside someone who has been a valued part of my journey since I was 16.
